  • ARTISAN PRODUCTION. The frigate tuna is hand filleted and individually packed by skilled local labour in Ayamonte, a traditional fishing village in Andalusia, Spain. Most of them are women, with generations of the same family working alongside another. 

    NO ADDITIVES OR CHEMICALS. NO DYES OR PRESERVATIVES. Pesasur does not use additives, chemicals, dyes or preservatives at any time during the manufacturing process of this product. 

    NO FARMED FISH.

    CERTIFICATIONS

            

    EXTRA VIRGIN ORGANIC OLIVE OIL: CAAE Certified. CAAE (Andalusian committee of organic agriculture) is the certification body specialising in organic production. CAAE certifies the most hectares in Europe: over 1,000,000.  

    PGI CERTIFIED (Protected Geographical Indication) Andalusia's preserved food industry still offers the quality that makes it stand out. They are small and medium-sized family businesses that have maintained an artisan style of processing, using species from the Andalusian coast.

    CERTIFIED QUALITY (Calidad Certificada): 
    The mackerel and frigate mackerel preserves that bear the stamp of the Regulatory Council on their jars and tins are products of guaranteed quality and are also backed by the Andalusian Regional Government’s Certified Quality Mark. They are unique, since they are the only designations of their kind in Spain.

    STORAGE & CARE:  Keep in a cool and dry place. Once opened keep refrigerated under 8˚C and consume within three days. 

  • DID YOU KNOW? Frigate Tuna, known locally in Andalusia as “Melva” is smaller in size (avg. 50cm) and with a much shorter lifespan (avg. 3 years) than the traditional Yellowfin Tuna. Deliciously meaty and juicy, with a high level of Omega 3 fatty acids and rich in Vitamins A, B and D.
